Grantmaking Procedure
WCA's procedure for deciding grant awards can take from three to six months
or more following the grant deadline dates before final determinations
regarding grant awards is made. The procedure is - - All applications must be submitted on WCA's application form. This form is not available on-line; grantseekers must request the form by calling the WCA office - 952-932-9032.
- WCA has two grant application deadline dates - May 1 and November 1. Applications must be postmarked on or before those dates.
- Within 30 days following the deadlines, WCA's Grant Review Committee will meet and select applications to be considered for possible funding in the following six months. Applicants whose proposals are not selected for further study will be notified by letter immediately following the meeting. Applications selected for further study will be assigned to one of WCA's three grantmaking departments.

- The grantmaking departments are comprised of volunteer members of WCA. They meet once each month and hear oral presentations by one or two applicants at each meeting. The department may wish to make a site visit either following or prior to the oral presentation.
- After the oral presentation and site visit, the department will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors regarding the awarding of a grant. The WCA Board of Directors, which meets the first Friday of each month, has final authority to determine all grant awards.
- Grant checks will be issued monthly throughout the year, immediately following the decision by the Board of Directors.
- Since the departments meet only once each month and hear one or two presentations at each meeting, it can take several months for each department to complete investigation of all applications that have been assigned. It is, therefore, possible that a grantseeker will not learn if the grant will be awarded for six months or more following WCA's application deadline.
- Grant recipients are required to submit a written report on the use of the funds within six months following the receipt of the grant, or at such time as the grant has been fully used. Grantees should submit the report on the WCA Report Form, a copy of which will be sent to the grantees with the grant checks.
